Wine Of The Week: Lenz Estate Selection Cabernet Franc
A New York Cab Franc with notes of blackberry and black cherry, plus a lush streak of herbs and a touch of chocolate.

When thinking of New York wines, one might think of Big Apple restaurant lists riddled with cult Champagnes and Manhattan exclusives. But recently, I’ve sampled some elusive and exclusive bottles from New York state. Lenz’s Estate Selection Cabernet Franc, hailing from the North Fork of Long Island, is both elegant and approachable. It’s pillowy with notes of blackberry and black cherry, plus a lush streak of herbs (thyme and lavender) and a touch of chocolate. Like a fancy Loire, but with a Long Island accent. $55
