Here’s Your First Look At The New All-Electric DeLorean

Meet the DeLorean EVolved.

A crystal-clear photo showing a portion of the upcoming DeLorean revival’s rear provides a much better look at the DMC-12 successor than was depicted in a shadow-shrouded teaser video from early 2022.

The gullwinged-EV is fittingly dubbed the DeLorean EVolved, according to Car and Driver. A two-tone silver and black color scheme appears to reference the original’s then-futuristic stainless steel construction, and the fastback-style rear roof strakes return in a slightly more subtle and modern form.

DeLorean Motors Reimagined, the DeLorean Motor Company-backed outfit behind the EVolved, also dropped a premiere date of Thursday, August 18 at the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance auto show—three days sooner than first announced.

“Excitement is rising like the doors of our iconic sports car, and we are revealing the next generation prototype 3 days earlier than planned on the most prestigious stage at Pebble beach” said Troy Beetz, CMO of DeLorean Motor Company Inc.

Other info is scant, but chief executive officer Joost de Vries, who previously held positions at Volvo and Tesla, told Car and Driver to expect at least 300 miles of range.

The architecture will be bespoke, but the electric motors, battery packs and other powertrain components will be outsourced. De Vries added that the EVolved is “not a hypercar,” but it is engineered for “people who want to drive.” It shouldn’t be hard to best the performance of the original’s underwhelming 130-hp V6.

More DeLorean EVolved details should arrive closer to its August 18 reveal.
