Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum celebrated his 24th birthday in exquisite style by dropping a reported $500,000 on a rare Richard Mille watch.

Celebrity fine jewelry dealer Eric Mavani, aka Eric Da Jeweler on Instagram, revealed that Tatum’s special day was accompanied by a special delivery: an RM 055 Bubba Watson—the same exact model that Logan Paul was roasted for wearing a fake version of on the ‘gram in 2021. Tatum’s acquisition of the real deal was reported by TMZ.

The all-white skeletonized titanium timepiece is a tamer, manually-wound descendent of the original RM-038 Bubba Watson, named for the legendary golfer. Power comes from the ultra-luxury Swiss watch brand’s own 24-jewel calibre RMUL2 movement, which boasts a 55-hour power reserve.

Tatum isn’t the first celebrity athlete to cop a Richard Mille—Rafael Nadal sported a $1 million RM 27-04 Tourbillon Rafael Nadal custom when he set the Grand Slam record at 21 in the finals of the 2022 Australian Open.

Lakers star LeBron James and boxing great Canelo Alvarez are also noted Richard Mille fans.

As BroBible points out, Richard Mille appeals to top athletes not just because of their complexity and status, but their sporting potential. The brand’s watches both both shock resistant and lightweight—the RM 055 Bubba Wallace’s movement weighs just 4.3 grams.

Richard Mille also has a hand in exotic automobiles, having created its “most extreme watch ever” in honor of the McLaren Speedtail.
