Persol Launches Cinema-Inspired Sunglasses Line
The Italian eyewear brand is celebrating more than a century of inspiration through film.
It’s no wonder that so many iconic styles in the menswear lexicon practically pop off the silver screen — and it’s no surprise that an iconic company like Persol uses the big screen as inspiration for its stylish Italian shades.
The company is celebrating the strong ties between style in film and its brand with its Fall 2022 campaign, dubbed “Icons. Framed Since 1917” and starring new Persol ambassadors Lucas Bravo and English actress Sophie Cookson.
The film-centric inspiration is more than appropriate, given Persol’s history of innovating stylish new sunglasses while building off classics beloved by the likes of legendary actor and style icon Steve McQueen.
Bravo, of Emily In Paris fame, was tapped to interpret the role of an actor and director in search of inspiration on a movie backlot.
That the backlot looks not unlike stylish Italian city streets (with the Persol sunglasses to match) is quite the cool, fitting turn of events.
In the campaign, Bravo is outfitted properly with — among other styles — the ’60s-inspired PO3297V while Cookson (notably seen in The Kingsman franchise) wears the equally sleek, chic Persol PO1003S in select shots.
“We share our appreciation for timeless design, craftsmanship and cinema, which made
working together feel even more organic,” Bravo said of the campaign and his new role as a brand ambassador.
Each style in the company’s Fall/Winter 2022 campaign was inspired by a different film genre, from romance to horror, with Cookson’s look and glasses nodding to musician biopics as they “combine sleek design with characteristic metal finishes,” according to Persol.
While you might not end up on the big screen wearing Persol, styles from the new collection can be found online, at Persol boutiques and through select retailers worldwide — add a pair to your style rotation ASAP.
