Seiko Teams With Rowing Blazers & Wind Vintage For Summer Watch Collab
The Japanese watchmaker links up with the cult-favorite NYC fashion label and vintage watch expert Eric Wind on a new Rally Diver.

Just in the nick of time to shake up summer doldrums, Seiko is offering up a colorful spin on your watch collection with the latest Rowing Blazers x Seiko collaboration, this time enlisting the helpful of vintage expert Eric Wind.

Available beginning July 9, the new Seiko x Rowing Blazers x Wind Vintage Rally Diver Watch updates the Seiko 5 Sport as only the duo can, building off previous limited releases like last summer’s Seiko 5 “Pepsi” watch. It also marks the fourth watch collaboration between the heritage timepiece company and the buzzed-about New York City fashion label, which has a knack for reinventing prep staples with a modern flair and a dash of downtown cool.

Rowing Blazers, founded by former U.S. national team rower Jack Carlson, has shot to fame since its 2017 founding, collaborating with the likes of Barbour, J. Crew, Sperry and the Grateful Dead. As the company notes, Rowing Blazers is defined by “our subversive, inclusive take on “preppy” style and the classics — as well as our celebrity clientele, cult following, and diverse collaborations,” and the Seiko x Rowing Blazers offering marks the latest sure-to-sell-out series of releases.

This time around, Seiko and Rowing Blazers worked with vintage horology expert Eric Wind on two fresh takes on the Seiko 5 Sport, the SRPM21 and the SRPM19. For good measure, Wind and Rowing Blazers founder Jack Carlson were classmates at Georgetown, further bolstering the timepiece partnership. Racing green inspired by sporting livery adds an eye-catching appeal to the checkerboard bezel and dial of the 38mm SRPM21, while the vivid blue of the SRPM19 arrives in a nicely sized 42mm case.

Within, the 24-jewel automatic caliber 4R36 Seiko movement powers each watch, which comes with a corresponding nylon strap (both models clock in at an SRP of $495). As Hodinkee notes, the two models reference the SRP649, the 2021 Seiko x Rowing Blazers collaboration and a watch with a fitting backstory. The 2021 Rally Diver, the publication notes, “itself served as an homage to a vintage Rally Diver Seiko from the late sixties, a watch that Eric Wind credits as the first vintage watch he’d ever purchased.”
With each passing collaboration and hyped fashion collection, Rowing Blazers says it strives to maintain its own authenticity, with a focus on sport, travel and the likes of “Oxbridge style,” noting the company is “about celebrating history, authenticity and craftsmanship, and extending that celebration to include — and empower — everyone.” With nods to the brand throughout the latest Seiko x Rowing Blazers timepiece, including the Rowing Blazers’ Bath Club motif on the caseback, the timepiece marks another hotly anticipated entry in the burgeoning partnership.
