E3 may be retired, but the annual tradition of blockbuster June gaming reveals continues. After Playstation’s recent, guerilla-style State of Play drop, Xbox fired back with their own summer showcase, announcing new titles, some permanent exclusives and a whole bunch of games coming day-one to the Game Pass streaming service. There’s even a special edition 25th anniversary edition Xbox Series X coming this fall. Here, the top highlights of the 2026 Xbox Summer Showcase.

Gears of War: E-Day

The next chapter in Xbox’s flagship over-the-shoulder shooter takes players back to the brutal beginnings of the Locust invasion. With modern visuals and a darker tone, Gears of War: E-Day looks poised to deliver classic Gears firefights and an epic origin for our beloved heroes when it launches on August 6.

Halo: Campaign Evolved

Master Chief returns in a new campaign experience designed to expand the Halo universe while honoring the franchise’s roots with a revisit to Chief’s original encounter with the Halo ring. Campaign Evolved seems to mean three new levels added to the legendary original game all coming on July 28.

Fable

Xbox’s beloved fantasy role playing series is finally making its long awaited comeback with a new journey through Albion. The latest trailer, featuring Hayley Atwell as new character Isabel, showcases more of its whimsical world, sharp humor, and player driven storytelling ahead of its scheduled February 2027 release.

State of Decay 3

Undead Labs’ survival horror sequel continues to expand its vision of a zombie ravaged open world filled with difficult choices and resource management. New gameplay footage points to a more ambitious experience when the game arrives sometime in 2027.

Clockwork Revolution

This stylish steampunk action RPG blends first-person combat with time bending mechanics in a visually striking alternate history setting that should satiate any BioShock fans out there. Microsoft has confirmed it as a permanent Xbox console exclusive, though a release date has not yet been announced.

Senua

Ninja Theory’s latest project expands the world of Senua with a new standalone adventure built around psychological storytelling and cinematic presentation. The reveal was one of the showcase’s biggest surprises, with the game currently targeting a 2027 release window.

Spyro: A Realm Beyond

The beloved purple dragon returns for his first original adventure in nearly two decades, bringing colorful worlds and classic platforming back to center stage. Scheduled for Spring 2027, the game immediately became one of the showcase’s most nostalgic announcements and a good sign for fans of platformers which don’t always get much love on Xbox.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse

Konami’s legendary vampire hunting franchise returns with a fresh entry centered on the Belmont bloodline. Featuring gothic environments, historic figures and fast-paced action, the retro gameplay and insane art style of this new Castlevania is set to launch on October 15, 2026.

Metro 2039

The acclaimed post apocalyptic series continues with another journey through a dangerous future shaped by survival and political conflict, all based on the Metro novels. The first gameplay reveal was a damn impressive outing that’s garnered immediate hype, with the game currently slated for February 2027.

Crazy Taxi: World Tour

Sega’s arcade driving classic is back with a modern revival that appears to embrace the franchise’s trademark speed, chaos, and over the top action. Here’s hoping for major international locations and a Crazy Box that’s bigger and better than the original. While no release date was announced, longtime fans will want to pay attention to this arcade revival from the 90s and what form it takes on a modern console.

Persona 6

One of the most anticipated role playing games in the industry finally made its debut with a stylish teaser trailer. Atlus has yet to announce a release date, but the reveal immediately caused a frenzy with fans who can’t get enough of the Persona series’ uniquely addictive gameplay.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4

Activision’s blockbuster shooter returns with a new chapter that promises high stakes military action and an expanded DMZ experience that was showcased among many new game reveals. The game is scheduled to launch on October 23, 2026, positioning it as one of the holiday season’s biggest releases as fans return over and over to see what’s new with the long-running shooter.

Xbox 25th Anniversary Xbox Series X and Controller

Perhaps the main difference between the Playstation and Xbox showcases is this lustworthy anniversary edition XSX console. Harkening back to the launch days of the original Xbox in 2001, the iconic translucent green console conjures memories of four-player Halo deathmatches on Blood Gulch and late-night rivalries in Fuzion Frenzy. Sure to be in limited supply, true fans of the platform might find they have no choice but to indulge their nostalgia and pick up one of these beauties…if they can.
